What is FSSAI License?

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India issues license to run FMCG related products. It is regulated by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. FSSAI ensures food or any eatable products are as per FSSAI guidelines.

Types of FSSAI License

Based on types of industries and based on revenue there are 3 types of FSSAI license.

Basic FSSAI Registration – It is a basic registration which is required for those types of business having annual turnover up to Rs. 12 Lacs.

State FSSAI License – It is required for those types of business having annual turnover between Rs. 12 lacs – Rs. 20 Crores.

Central FSSAI License – It is required if business annual turn over is above Rs. 20 crores.

What are the required documents to apply FSSAI?

  • Blueprint or layout of the business unit/manufacturing unit
  • All equipment and machineries list used for business
  • Analysis of water report from a recognized/public health laboratory
• Electrical Safety certificate by authorized electrical contractors
• NOC from the municipality and local body
• Proof of possession of business premises, i.e. rental  agreement, NOC from the owner of the rented premises, utility bills etc.
• Authority letter from manufacturer nominated a responsible person name and address
